Located on the Yalu River, the village of Hekou is certified as one of the Most Beautiful Villages in China and a model of One Village and One Product in Liaoning province for its red peach farming.

Back to the 1980s, the song “There're Peach Blossoms” spread across China by singer Jiang Dawei after it was performed at a Spring Festival Gala on the CCTV.

The place eulogized in the song is the village of Hekou on the Yalu River. For a time people flocked to the village for its peach blossoms. Situated in the south of Changdian Township of Kuandian Manchu Autonomous County. In fact, integrated into its spectacular landscape are three rivers, the famous broken railway bridge, the base where TV play Liu Laogen was filmed, Lake of Egrets, railway bridge at Shanghekou estuary, the Railway Memorial Museum of the War to Resist U.S. Aggression and Aid Korea, Mao Anying Memorial School, and the 10,000 mu peach orchard. Now the village is certified as a tourist site in the national Yalu River Scenic Resort.

Each year, before the end of April, the village of Hekou is covered by a red cloak of peach blossoms and by the time the sun rises, it seems that every hillside is inflamed. And then people begin to drive to the village from every part of the province. They're instantly fascinated by the stunningly beautiful landscape. Instinctively they're impressed and stirred. Happy and joyful looks appear on their faces. The joy they take from the blossoms is beyond description. For those who live here, their love and pride for the place has never been stronger. They're building their own happy home with wisdom, courage, and perspiration. They're producing a charming landscape painting with a determination that belongs to the people of Hekou village.

The village abounds with red peaches. Juicy, tasty, and large in size, they're acclaimed as one of the most famous species in China. Since the 1990s, the villagers began to plant more and more peach trees. Up to now, 10,000 mu has been cultivated for peaches, whose rapid growth has played a leading part in the local agriculture and even has a significant role in the township's agricultural development.

Thanks to its reputation as one of the Most Beautiful Villages in China, the village is trying to integrate ecological agriculture and local tourist projects. The famous song alone has done a lot for the village to be accepted as an ecological tourist destination. Each year, during May Day and National Day holidays, the village is visited by over 10,000 tourists daily.

At present there're over 200 households in the village where every family has peach trees. Peach farming and tourism bring an annual income of 60,000 yuan to each family. Aided with online shopping, e-commerce, and online promoting, the villagers find themselves winners in the new trend, because, instead of peddling their harvests, they can stay where they are and sell peaches to every corner of the country.
